Pain management is a dynamic process that requires careful navigation through assessment, pharmacologic strategies, interventional approaches, and surgery. This interactive, case-based session uses real-world scenarios to address critical decision points in opioid selection, rotation, tapering, and the integration of opioid-sparing strategies and adjuvant therapies. Participants will explore practical questions, such as identifying pain causes, combining long- and short-acting opioids, incorporating procedures into multimodal plans, and understanding buprenorphine’s role, while gaining insights into evolving treatment goals and therapy adjustments.

Learning Objectives:

Apply a structured approach to pain assessment to guide appropriate treatment selection.
Implement opioid‑sparing strategies, including non‑opioid pharmacologic agents, procedures, and combination therapies within a multimodal pain plan.
Describe the role of buprenorphine in chronic and complex pain management in comparison to other available opioid options.
Discuss when injections or interventional procedures should be recommended and how they fit into a longitudinal, continuum‑of‑care model.
